The Opportunity:

As a SEND Tutor, you will provide individualised support to young people with special educational needs and emotional and mental health challenges. This role offers the chance to work flexibly, remotely or in-person, and to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1-1 Maths, English, or Science tuition to students with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Support learners across Key Stages 1 to 5 through trauma-informed and flexible teaching
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote academic progress and emotional well-being
  • Provide regular feedback and progress reports to ensure continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with the SEND Support Team to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Contribute to the school’s mission of raising educational standards for vulnerable young people
  • Maintain accurate records and communication with referring schools and local authorities
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • 2+ years of experience in online or in-person teaching, preferably with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD learners
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently
  • Experience in creating trauma-informed learning environments

Preferred

  • Experience working with learners with complex needs
  • Background in SENDCo, intervention specialist, or educational therapist roles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with remote teaching platforms and tools
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
