The Opportunity:

This is a pivotal role for a Senior Deputy Headteacher who will contribute to the continued success and strategic vision of a school in a period of significant growth. The position offers the chance to lead with purpose, support the Headmistress, and make a lasting impact on the lives of students and the future of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headmistress in the strategic development and implementation of the school’s vision and mission.
  • Oversee and manage key areas of school operations, including academic, pastoral, and administrative functions.
  • Lead and mentor staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality education, maintaining and enhancing the school’s academic and pastoral standards.
  • Represent the school at external events, meetings, and partnerships, promoting its values and achievements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive innovation and continuous improvement across all aspects of the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of school policies and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the strategic vision.
  • Play a key role in the recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality teaching and support staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior educational role, ideally within a girls’ school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the strategic and operational management of a school.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams, with a focus on staff well-being and professional growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, parents, and students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with the ability to comply with all relevant checks and procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within an independent or preparatory school.
  • Familiarity with the London education market and the challenges and opportunities it presents.
  • A track record of successful school development and improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in curriculum leadership and the ability to drive academic excellence.
