The Opportunity:
As a Senior Science Technician - Maternity Cover, you will play a key role in supporting the science department and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality curriculum. This is a pivotal time as the school embarks on its inaugural KS4 year, offering a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely technical support to enable the delivery of the science curriculum and departmental initiatives.
- Maintain science laboratories in a safe, clean, and functional working order.
- Collaborate with the Head of Science and teaching staff to support student learning and progress.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with external agencies and support whole school initiatives.
- Inspire and motivate students and staff through a proactive and dedicated approach.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all laboratory activities.
- Contribute to the development of the science department and the school’s overall mission.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a science technician or in a similar technical role within an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, health and safety procedures, and science curriculum requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to student success and a passion for education.
Preferred
- Experience in supporting the delivery of KS4 science qualifications.
- Familiarity with the latest science teaching methods and technologies.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-faith environment.
- Previous experience in a school setting with a strong focus on community and student development.
