The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician - Maternity Cover, you will play a key role in supporting the science department and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality curriculum. This is a pivotal time as the school embarks on its inaugural KS4 year, offering a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely technical support to enable the delivery of the science curriculum and departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain science laboratories in a safe, clean, and functional working order.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Science and teaching staff to support student learning and progress.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with external agencies and support whole school initiatives.
  • Inspire and motivate students and staff through a proactive and dedicated approach.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all laboratory activities.
  • Contribute to the development of the science department and the school’s overall mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a science technician or in a similar technical role within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, health and safety procedures, and science curriculum requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student success and a passion for education.

Preferred

  • Experience in supporting the delivery of KS4 science qualifications.
  • Familiarity with the latest science teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-faith environment.
  • Previous experience in a school setting with a strong focus on community and student development.
