The Opportunity:

A Speech and Language Therapist is sought to support students from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5 in developing communication skills. This role involves delivering targeted and specialist interventions that empower students to build confidence and independence in their learning and social interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group speech and language therapy sessions using a graduated support model.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and multi-therapy assistants to embed communication strategies across the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement person-centered, strengths-based interventions tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Support students in understanding their communication profiles and building effective interaction strategies.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to ensure consistent support across home and school environments.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, adjusting interventions as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of school-wide communication and support strategies.
  • Stay up to date with best practices in speech and language therapy and special educational needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working with children with a range of communication needs, including those with SpLD and ASD.
  • Strong knowledge of graduated models of support and intervention.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to person-centered and strengths-based practice.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and GCSE qualifications.
  • Experience in delivering training or professional development to staff.
  • Knowledge of neuro-affirming approaches to communication support.
