The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Sociology and Criminology Teacher to join our successful Humanities department. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on student learning and development while contributing to a vibrant and expanding educational community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Sociology and Criminology to students of all abilities.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on students’ work to support their academic progress.
  • Monitor and support student progress using the school’s bespoke in-house systems.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the curriculum in line with awarding organisation specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities and trips that enhance student engagement with the subject.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students to support their personal and academic growth.
  • Support the school’s mission and values through teaching and pastoral care.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Sociology and Criminology.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge students.
  • Experience in assessing student work and providing effective feedback.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching A Level or equivalent qualifications in Sociology and Criminology.
  • Experience with extra-curricular activities and student engagement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with using digital tools and resources in teaching.
  • Experience working in a large, inclusive educational setting.
