The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will lead the school’s SEN policy and ensure that all students with learning difficulties or disabilities receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. This role is essential in maintaining the school’s inclusive values and driving excellence in SEND provision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and SEN information report.
  • Coordinate provision for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Work closely with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to support students.
  • Ensure that all students with SEND make excellent academic progress and develop essential life skills.
  • Uphold the school’s inclusive values and drive continuous improvement in SEN provision.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students with Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH).
  • Collaborate with the Specialist provision team, The Spectrum Centre, to deliver high-quality support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision and report outcomes to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in special educational needs.
  • Proven experience in managing SEN policies and provision.
  • Strong understanding of SEND frameworks, including EHCPs, ASD, and SEMH.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student success.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a high proportion of students with SEND.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
  • Experience in developing and implementing SEN strategies.
  • Leadership experience in education or SEN provision.
