The Opportunity:

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they receive individualised care and academic support. You will work closely with the Deputy Head Academic and collaborate with parents, staff, and external professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small team of support staff to deliver targeted interventions and support for pupils with special educational needs.
  • Provide individual and group support to pupils, including small group workshops and one-on-one sessions.
  • Liaise with parents, teaching staff, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support strategies.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each pupil.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of pupils, providing regular updates to the Deputy Head Academic and parents.
  • Promote inclusive practices and ensure that all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Support the school’s pastoral care ethos and contribute to the co-curricular programme.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and promote a culture of health and safety.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs support.
  • Strong understanding of SEND policies and best practices in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to manage a small team effectively and deliver targeted support.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or similar educational setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development and individual learning plans.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
