The Opportunity:
As a Special Needs Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEND across a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEND during lessons, both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised learning plans.
- Provide guidance and support to students during offsite educational activities.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress in line with individual learning goals.
- Offer emotional and academic support to students, promoting independence and confidence.
- Participate in staff training and development to enhance support strategies.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and teaching teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
- Flexibility to support students across a variety of subjects and settings.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices.
- Previous experience in developing and delivering individualised learning plans.
- Familiarity with educational software and tools.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies.
