The Opportunity:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism, learning disabilities, and other additional needs. You will deliver individual and group therapy, contribute to universal support initiatives, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure every student receives the right support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individual and group speech and language therapy programmes tailored to student needs.
- Provide advice and guidance across universal, targeted, and personalised levels of support.
- Ensure the successful implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and set SMART targets.
- Manage a caseload effectively, maintaining accurate records in line with policies and safeguarding requirements.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to support student progress.
- Deliver training and professional development on speech and language therapy strategies.
- Collect and report data to support service quality and engage in continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree or diploma in Speech and Language Therapy.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in supporting students in a speech and language therapy role.
- Experience in assessing and identifying students' needs.
- Experience in speech and language therapy for young people with autism and additional conditions.
- Strong clinical reasoning and goal-setting skills.
- Experience managing a caseload of students.
- Experience tracking young people and supporting positive outcomes.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding processes and issues affecting young people.
- IT literate with Microsoft Office and role-specific software.
- Effective communication skills at all levels.
- Compassion, resilience, and a person-centred approach.
- Willingness to travel and work across multiple campuses.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.
Preferred
- Knowledge of the latest research evidence and its application to improve student outcomes.
- Experience in further education, school, or educational settings.
- Experience contributing to service design or quality improvement.
- Experience delivering staff training on communication strategies.
