Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 to 5, including A-level groups.
  • Develop and implement engaging and effective teaching strategies that support student progress and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance departmental pedagogy and curriculum design.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, ensuring their academic and personal needs are met.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the planning and delivery of the English curriculum.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding lessons and support student achievement.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for teaching the subject.
  • Experience working in a school setting, preferably within a large and successful department.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to meet the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering A-level English courses.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and pedagogical best practices.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and supporting diverse student needs.
  • Leadership experience or the potential to take on a mentoring role within the department.
