The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Law to provide maternity cover until the end of the 2026/27 academic year. This is a full-time, fixed-term role within a successful and innovative Law department that delivers both A Level and BTEC Applied Law courses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across A Level and BTEC Applied Law courses.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential through evidence-informed teaching strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of the Law department's enrichment activities, such as bar mock competitions and guest speaker events.
  • Support students in their understanding of the legal system and prepare them for future careers in law.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of departmental initiatives and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress effectively, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching Law at A Level or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Law, with the ability to deliver both A Level and BTEC Applied Law courses.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Commitment to student progress and achievement, with a track record of inspiring and motivating learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take on additional responsibilities as required.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering OCR specification courses.
  • Involvement in Law-related enrichment activities, such as mock trials or careers events.
  • Experience with reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching strategies and technologies.
