The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with physical disabilities, ensuring they can access learning with dignity and confidence. This is a key position that contributes directly to the well-being and educational success of students within a collaborative and supportive school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with physical disabilities, ensuring full access to the curriculum
- Deliver personal and intimate care in a respectful, sensitive, and confidential manner
- Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion
- Support pupils individually and in small groups, both in and out of the classroom
- Assist with mobility, positioning, and use of specialist equipment as required
- Manage and support pupil behaviour to maintain a safe and constructive learning environment
- Respond proactively to pupils’ needs, questions, and requests for help
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting pupils with additional needs
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Highly motivated, caring, and enthusiastic
- High expectations of pupils and a commitment to inclusive practice
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Committed and reliable team player
- Willingness to undertake relevant training related to physical disability and personal care
Preferred
- Experience working with pupils with physical disabilities
- Background in education or care support
- Experience with personal and intimate care procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
