Summary:

Teaching Assistant Level 1 – Support pupils in the SEND department and help them achieve their full potential.

As a Teaching Assistant Level 1, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils within the SEND department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the classroom and during learning activities.
  • Promote self-esteem and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their learning.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of structured learning experiences tailored to individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure consistent support for all students.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the teaching team.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  • Assist with the administration of resources and classroom organization.
  • Support pupils in developing social and emotional skills through structured activities and interactions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and Maths.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8.15 am to 4.00 pm (36.25 hours per week).
  • High expectations of pupils’ attainment and behaviour.
  • Enthusiasm for student learning and a commitment to supporting academic and personal development.

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
