Summary:

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with autism and complex needs. You will help create an inclusive learning environment, assist with lesson delivery, and promote independence, confidence, and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils’ learning through tailored classroom activities and one-to-one engagement.
  • Prepare learning materials and assist in lesson delivery.
  • Promote wellbeing, independence, and confidence in pupils.
  • Assist with outdoor learning experiences and off-site activities.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils.
  • Support the implementation of individual education plans.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism or complex needs (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different classroom and outdoor settings.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to help pupils thrive.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Knowledge of autism and special educational needs.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices.
