The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with autism and complex needs. You will help create an inclusive learning environment, assist with lesson delivery, and promote independence, confidence, and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils’ learning through tailored classroom activities and one-to-one engagement.
- Prepare learning materials and assist in lesson delivery.
- Promote wellbeing, independence, and confidence in pupils.
- Assist with outdoor learning experiences and off-site activities.
- Collaborate closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils.
- Support the implementation of individual education plans.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children or young people with autism or complex needs (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different classroom and outdoor settings.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to help pupils thrive.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Knowledge of autism and special educational needs.
- Experience with curriculum planning and delivery.
- Familiarity with inclusive education practices.
