The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs and English as an Additional Language. This role is essential in helping to deliver a high-quality education and ensuring that all pupils are included and supported in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teacher in planning and preparing lessons for individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes.
  • Deliver structured teaching and learning activities that meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Administer assessments, maintain records, and analyse results to support pupil progress.
  • Assist in the delivery of intervention programmes for targeted pupils, including those with SEN, EAL, and Pupil Premium.
  • Reinforce behaviour standards in line with the school's behaviour policy and support other Teaching Assistants and volunteers.
  • Attend meetings with teachers and specialist professionals to discuss individual and whole-school action plans.
  • Communicate with parents and carers to discuss pupils' progress and address any concerns.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to NVQ level 2.
  • Knowledge of school curriculum, teaching methods, and testing/examination frameworks.
  • Understanding of child protection issues and safeguarding procedures.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to use ICT to support pupil learning.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and/or English as an Additional Language.
  • Familiarity with individual education plans and targeted intervention strategies.
  • Experience in a school setting, particularly in a supportive teaching role.
