The Opportunity:

As a Theatre Technician, you will be responsible for designing and realising lighting for productions and events in the Ryan Theatre and other performance spaces. This role is ideal for someone passionate about theatre and working collaboratively in a creative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement lighting solutions for a variety of productions and events.
  • Support the production process across different areas with appropriate guidance.
  • Collaborate with technical, creative, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality performances.
  • Liaise with colleagues and students across the organization and externally.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all theatre equipment and systems.
  • Maintain and update lighting and technical equipment as required.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events throughout the academic year.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and other team members as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in theatre lighting and technical production.
  • Strong understanding of lighting design and equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Enthusiasm for working with young people and in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of theatre production processes and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with software used in lighting design and stage management.
  • Experience with a range of technical equipment and systems.
