The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dynamic and motivated graduate to train as a teacher in the Computer Science and IT Department. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education while being employed as a trainee teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning across the department, including covering classes and mentoring students.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Computer Science and IT, including A Level and Cambridge Technical courses.
  • Participate in the PGCE training programme, attending lectures and seminars on Monday evenings.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching resources and collaborate with departmental colleagues.
  • Attend open evenings and student review meetings to support student progression and engagement.
  • Prepare, plan, and mark student work in line with departmental standards.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and mentorship provided by the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree in IT or a related subject.
  • No prior teaching qualification.
  • Commitment to a career in teaching.
  • Experience working with young adults is preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience in an educational environment or shadowing in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with adults and students.
  • Strong personal qualities that align with teaching values, such as enthusiasm, motivation, and communication skills.
  • Relevant work experience or academic background that supports teaching in IT or Computer Science.
