The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic Physics Department and take the first step in your teaching career as a Trainee Physics Teacher. This role offers hands-on classroom experience and the opportunity to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in a single academic year. You will be supported by experienced colleagues and develop into a confident, reflective, and skilled practitioner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective Physics lessons to students across a range of year groups.
- Work closely with experienced colleagues and a dedicated professional mentor to enhance teaching practice.
- Participate in weekly training sessions with specialists to develop subject knowledge and pedagogical skills.
- Support the delivery of practical lessons and ensure the safe use of laboratory equipment.
- Encourage student participation in Physics-related clubs and competitions, including Astronomy and Electronics.
- Contribute to the development of stretch and challenge opportunities for all pupils.
- Attend and engage in professional development conferences and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Bachelor’s degree (2:2 or above).
- Commitment to teaching and a passion for Physics.
- Willingness to work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience.
- Familiarity with the OCR Physics A specification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
