The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic Physics Department and take the first step in your teaching career as a Trainee Physics Teacher. This role offers hands-on classroom experience and the opportunity to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in a single academic year. You will be supported by experienced colleagues and develop into a confident, reflective, and skilled practitioner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Physics lessons to students across a range of year groups.
  • Work closely with experienced colleagues and a dedicated professional mentor to enhance teaching practice.
  • Participate in weekly training sessions with specialists to develop subject knowledge and pedagogical skills.
  • Support the delivery of practical lessons and ensure the safe use of laboratory equipment.
  • Encourage student participation in Physics-related clubs and competitions, including Astronomy and Electronics.
  • Contribute to the development of stretch and challenge opportunities for all pupils.
  • Attend and engage in professional development conferences and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree (2:2 or above).
  • Commitment to teaching and a passion for Physics.
  • Willingness to work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Previous teaching or mentoring experience.
  • Familiarity with the OCR Physics A specification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
