Summary:

Join a school as a Transition Teacher and support Year 7 students in their academic and personal development.

The Opportunity:

As a Transition Teacher, you will support Year 7 students who need additional help in their move from primary to secondary school. You will play a key role in helping them make expected progress and become confident members of the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Year 7 students who require additional assistance in their transition to secondary education
  • Develop and implement targeted strategies to improve academic outcomes and confidence
  • Collaborate with primary schools to ensure a smooth transition for students
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum
  • Work closely with pastoral staff to support the emotional and social development of students
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to the school’s pastoral care system and student wellbeing initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching at Key Stage 2
  • Strong understanding of the transition process from primary to secondary education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to Catholic values and school ethos
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Preferred

  • Experience in supporting students with additional needs
  • Familiarity with the school’s curriculum and pastoral systems
  • Experience with child safeguarding and protection procedures
  • Previous experience in a Catholic school setting
