The Opportunity:

As a Welfare Lead (SEND), you will be responsible for supporting student wellbeing, safeguarding, and promoting positive mental health across the school community. This is a key role in ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead initiatives to promote student wellbeing and mental health
  • Implement and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support
  • Identify and address student needs through proactive support strategies
  • Deliver training and guidance on wellbeing and safeguarding matters
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on student welfare cases
  • Work closely with external agencies when necessary to support students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in pastoral care, welfare support, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail

Preferred

  • Knowledge of mental health issues affecting young people
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Experience in a creative or specialist education setting
