The Opportunity:

A Woodwind Teacher is sought to inspire and guide students in their musical development. This role involves teaching individual lessons on clarinet and saxophone, with the potential to expand into double reed instruments. The successful candidate will contribute to a vibrant musical community and help prepare students for music exams and ensembles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach individual instrumental lessons on clarinet and saxophone
  • Deliver double reed lessons where appropriate
  • Prepare students for regular music exams and assessments
  • Encourage participation in ensembles and musical groups
  • Promote the woodwind instruments to attract new students
  • Support the school’s co-curricular music activities and performances
  • Maintain a high standard of teaching and student engagement
  • Collaborate with other peripatetic staff and school departments

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified and experienced woodwind teacher
  • Strong background in teaching clarinet and saxophone
  • Ability to prepare students for music exams
  • Commitment to fostering student participation in ensembles
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Preferred

  • Experience teaching double reed instruments
  • Background in running co-curricular music clubs or performances
  • Familiarity with music exam boards such as Trinity
  • Strong musical performance experience
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting
