The Opportunity:

As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality education in an outdoor learning environment. You will work closely with the class teacher to inspire young learners through project-based learning, literacy, maths, and environmental education. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's education and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of well-structured lessons and cross-curricular projects inspired by children’s interests.
  • Promote high expectations and good progress in pupils through engaging and challenging activities.
  • Lead small group sessions in core skills such as maths and literacy, with support from the class teacher.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and practices that align with the institution’s vision and values.
  • Advocate for the benefits of outdoor learning and the school’s educational philosophy to the wider community.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and maintain a safe, positive learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support a cohesive and supportive school community.
  • Promote the school’s ethos and work collaboratively with the Head of School and staff team to fulfill its educational mission.
  • Participate in training, professional development, and appraisal processes to enhance teaching practice and personal growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children aged 4 to 11 in a primary school setting.
  • Commitment to outdoor learning and the ability to work in a dynamic, nature-based environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and the school community.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a high-energy, resilient approach to teaching.

Preferred

  • Experience in an outdoor education environment.
  • Background in project-based learning or innovative teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework or similar progressive educational approaches.
  • Experience in leading small group sessions or supporting curriculum delivery.
