The Opportunity:

As a Youth Programme Leader, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH challenges, helping them reengage with their education and achieve their personal goals. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people within a dynamic and mission-driven institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support small groups of students with SEMH challenges, providing guidance and encouragement to help them reengage with their studies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Alternative Provision team and other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student welfare.
  • Develop and implement individualised support plans tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and carers to maintain strong relationships and ensure a cohesive support network.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and personal development.
  • Work in line with the school’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives to drive continuous improvement in the Alternative Provision department.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and support to ensure they meet their academic and personal goals.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in youth support and education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting, preferably in an alternative provision environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and delivering structured support programmes for students with SEMH needs.
  • Knowledge of educational frameworks and best practices in youth support and welfare.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Previous involvement in professional development or training related to youth work or education.
