The Opportunity:

This role combines teaching and youth work, offering a unique pathway to qualify at degree level while making a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs. You will help students re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted teaching and learning support to individuals and small groups
  • Develop and implement personalised learning programmes and reintegration pathways
  • Provide mentoring and youth work interventions focused on wellbeing and life skills
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students as a positive role model
  • Support students' emotional regulation, behaviour, and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Apply theory from the Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship to daily practice

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Passion for working with young people, particularly those with additional or complex needs
  • Calm, resilient, empathetic, and flexible approach
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to completing a Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6)
  • Experience or strong interest in mentoring, pastoral support, or alternative provision

Preferred

  • Experience in education or youth work settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reflective and motivated approach to supporting vulnerable young people
