The Opportunity:

As a Youth Work Apprentice and Teaching Instructor, you will support young people with complex needs while completing a fully funded Level 6 Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship. This dual-role position combines education and youth work, offering hands-on experience and the chance to make a real difference in students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted teaching and learning support to individuals and small groups
  • Contribute to personalised learning programmes and reintegration pathways
  • Provide mentoring and youth work interventions focused on wellbeing and life skills
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students as a positive role model
  • Support students’ emotional regulation, behaviour, and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Apply theory directly to day-to-day work while qualifying at degree level

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Passion for working with young people, particularly those with complex needs
  • Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Experience or strong interest in mentoring, pastoral support, or alternative provision
  • Commitment to completing a Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred

  • Previous experience in education or youth work
  • Knowledge of SEMH, SEND, and pastoral support
  • Experience with alternative provision or reintegration pathways
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
